Sewing Box From The Flea Market

A few weeks ago I visited a flew market and bought this cute little sewing box. I had to varnish it because the surface was splintered and broken. So I decided to paint it in the color ivory.

the varnish was broken and splintered

I sanded the surface to prepare it for varnishing

I decided to varnish my sewing box in a color called ivory
every little part had to be painted

in the end I sanded it a little on the edges to get a vintage look

this sewing box is the home of my new embroidery material

Brown Sugar

I start the new year by making a disappearing nine patch quilt for my second son Moritz. I call this quilt "Brown Sugar" because Moritz chooses only brown fabrics for his quilt. It's a men's quilt!

every block starts with a normal nine patch
then cut it in half .....

... in both directions

then turn the squares around 180 degree

and sew them together again - first block finished

I use normal hair clips to fix the binding
